The KAP Workshop + Experiential for Professionals is designed for those in the behavioral health field who are interested in learning about ketamine assisted psychotherapy and how to work with clients integrating ketamine experiences. 

 

This workshop will include an optional experiential component, providing an opportunity to bring in an embodied personal experience of the medicine into your work with clients.

Workshop includes 3.5 hours of education about Ketamine, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Integration as an intervention in psychotherapy.

  • Brief History of Ketamine

  • Pharmacology of Ketamine

  • Medical and Psychiatric Contraindications

  • Formats of Ketamine used for treatment

  • An overview of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

  • Current research in the field

  • Practical approaches and therapeutic interventions to support clients integrating Ketamine experiences

In addition to the 3.5 hours of the morning workshop, eligible participants will spend the afternoon directly engaging in the KAP process.  This opportunity will allow you to deepen your understanding of the dynamics of the medicine itself, treatment modality, and integration of the experience.

Experiential includes:

  • 30 minute assessment with me to ensure suitability*

  • 30 minute medical consultation for prescription*  

  • 1 hour of group preparation

  • 1 hour of self-directed ketamine experience (using a low dose of sublingual ketamine)

  • 1.5 hours of self-reflection and group integration

 

*These appointments occur before the workshop.  To engage in the experiential component, you will become a temporary client of Non-Ordinary Therapy, LLC under the care of Amber Kerby, MS, LMFT collaborating with a qualified prescribing professional affiliated with this practice. Proper assessment for suitability and safety requires additional time and documentation.

Amber Kerby, MS, LMFT is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Iowa and New Hampshire.  She maintains a private practice that offers a hybrid of telehealth and in office services.  Her experience in the field of mental health ranges from home-based therapy and school-based counseling to clinical work in private practice.

​

As the founder of Non Ordinary Therapy, LLC, Amber is expanding access to novel approaches in mental health therapy.  She is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS, level 2) and utilizes this approach to assist clients in changing perspectives and deepening understanding of themselves and their symptoms.

​

Amber is a certified psychedelic assisted therapy provider, and is the first LMFT in Iowa to offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in her private practice. She is invested in providing education, consultation, and training to clinicians and mental health organizations around ketamine assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration as a therapeutic intervention.

Dr. Aaron McDonough, PharmD is a Co-Owner and the Chief Innovation Officer of Towncrest Pharmacy Corporation. Towncrest Pharmacy has six ambulatory community pharmacy sites, one Long-Term Care pharmacy and one alternative/functional medicine clinic and compounding pharmacy. Dr. McDonough spends majority of his time working in the functional medicine clinic and compounding pharmacy offering comprehensive functional medicine/wellness consultations and precision compounding expertise in areas of mental health, pain, women’s/men’s hormonal health, dermatology, dental, and veterinary medicine. The functional wellness clinic serves a diverse patient population and manages drug-induced nutrient depletion, mental health, chronic pain, cardiometabolic, gastrointestinal, pediatrics, and various other unique patent health concerns. Dr. McDonough’s goal is to personalize alternative medicine and compounds to tailor the individual needs of every patient he serves.

*Continuing Education Credits:

​

• CE credits for psychologists are provided by the Spiritual Competency Academy (SCA) which is co-sponsoring this program. The Spiritual Competency Academy is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Spiritual Competency Academy maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

 

• The California Board of Behavioral Sciences accepts CE credits for LCSW, LPCC, LEP, and LMFT license renewal for programs offered by sponsors of CE who are approved by the American Psychological Association.

 

• LCSW, LPCC, LEP and LMFTs, and other professionals from outside of California need to check with their state licensing board as to whether or not they accept credits from programs offered by approved sponsors of CE by the American Psychological Association.

 

• SCA is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN Provider CEP16887) for licensed nurses in California. RNs must retain their certificate of attendance for 4 years after the course concludes. Nurses outside of California must confirm acceptance with their licensing boards.
